In today’s world, many people live with a persistent worry about disease and illness, spending months, even years, fearing for their health. This constant cycle of anxious thought can actually create an environment within the mind and body that paves the way for illness. When we continuously focus on disease and imagine the worst, we amplify negative thoughts in our conscious mind, ultimately silencing our subconscious mind’s natural resilience and healing power. By examining our perceptions of illness, we can uncover the immense role our minds play in health and learn to break the cycle of fear.

Common illnesses are common, and rare ones are very rare, but the fear of serious illness arises when you search for information on the internet.
When I published a website called Gotosurgery.com that listed the symptoms and signs of common illnesses, I was compelled to include rare conditions alongside the common ones due to legal constraints. It was then that I realized people tend to focus on the rare illnesses while ignoring the common ones because they are more concerned about the severe complications associated with rare diseases. Often, they have heard of someone developing complications and dying, which heightens their anxiety.
When patients experience common symptoms or signs, they encounter another problem. Doctors often mention serious illnesses to encourage patients to undergo tests and investigations. However, this approach can create lingering fear. Patients may question the doctor’s interpretation, doubt the validity of the tests performed, and continue to silently worry about the consequences.
I refer to such patients as "Wellness Worriers." These individuals spend years thinking, worrying, and investing time and money in searching for solutions, unable to shake off the fear of serious illness. This motivated me to remove the website, and start seraching for an alternate method to share personalised response and so created Maya (Medical Advice You Access).

Many people devote their lives to advocating for medical research, raising funds, and supporting hospitals and scientists in the hope that a miracle cure will be found. They believe that with modern medicine, technology, and now artificial intelligence, humanity is on the brink of discovering cures for every illness. They may fear that they themselves could fall victim to the illness they support and thus feel compelled to do everything possible to contribute to its cure, as if their efforts could somehow protect them. Unfortunatly the the prolonged fear often manifests as disease, mental illness and so they spend their entire life thinking, worrying and creating deep rooted belief that often manifest.
This drive to find a cure is undoubtedly noble, but it also reflects a collective belief that disease is an inevitable part of life and that only external interventions—doctors, medications, and technology—can provide salvation. This mindset fosters a dependency on the medical system and leaves many feeling powerless over their own health.
How Negative Thoughts Can Manifest Illness
Illness is, in many ways, an illusion. This isn’t to say that real physical conditions don’t exist, but rather that the power of our minds plays a crucial role in whether we experience disease.
